Round 1 – Sounds loud at the Moody Center! He’s a big featherweight. We are in progress. Kattar is a moderate favorite here. Let’s see if the bettors are right. Both guys are very patient. Round 2 – Let’s see if things improve here. Emmett lands a combination, then follows it up with a right hand. Emmett tries the same trick again. It’s usually his killing blow, so I’m expecting there to be more where that came from. Kattar needs to throw… something. He just stands there, fighting too carefully. Spicy Kattar. Emmett was bleeding more now. This blow basically stopped Emmett. He stopped moving forward. Kattar lands a standing elbow. Emmett goes headlong with punches. Emmett comes in with a jumpsuit. Kattar ducks with a massive right hand. Emmett briefly tries to change position. Then he turns back. Emmett ducks under a Kattar jumpsuit and lands a punch. Kattar wipes his nose. Emmett threatens a takedown and lands a combination. Emmett ducks again for a takedown and Kattar knees him. It was well chosen. Kattar lands another. Emmett lands another tough combination before the horn. 20-18 Emmet.

Round 3 – Kattar is doing some good things. He just needs to do more. Right now he’s probably down two zips. Emmett comes out with a jumpsuit. Emmett goes down Kattar and lands a big overhand right. Emmett lands another combination. Kattar lands an elbow. Emmett nearly flips with a right hand that misses. He has a weird power in his right fist. Emmett kicks the leg. Emmett lands an overhand right. Kattar goes back to his jab and lands a nice uppercut. Another right hand from Emmett lands. Emmett attempted this standing backbend a few times. Anderson Silva-esque. A random flashy weapon in an otherwise meat and potatoes attack so far. Kattar is bloody now. The round ends. 30-27 Emmet.

Round 4 – There was an interesting conversation in Kattar’s corner. Coach Tyson Chartier asked Kattar what that problem was. Kattar said, “He’s charging.” Looks like Kattar is worried about Emmett’s power. Let’s see if Kattar listens to his trainer’s advice to be aggressive – and see if that pays off. Emmett lands a combination. Emmett rushes Kattar, lands a combination, pushes him into the fence and shoots. Kattar avoids. They break. Kattar lands an elbow. I feel like the two men’s confidence levels are moving in opposite directions. Kattar becomes more and more shy. Emmett is getting more and more comfortable. The two men land. Emmett targets the body again. Both guys have welts under their eyes. Kattar cracks Emmett with a spinning elbow back. It was noisy. They are separating. Kattar pierces Emmett with an elbow, who staggers. It was the biggest strike of the fight for either man. Emmett’s face is a mess now. That elbow did its damage. Emmett shoots and gives up. Kattar jabs – straight into the damage. Ouch. Emmett blitzes. Kattar avoids. The horn sounds and the two fighters covered in blood come face to face. It gets good. 39-37 Emmet.

Round 5 – “Let’s do it,” Chartier told Kattar. Meanwhile, Emmett’s corner tells their fighter it’s 3-1. The doctor gives Emmett eye clearance and we’re good to go. The final round begins. The momentum was slowly building for Kattar before the break. Let’s see if it picks up where it left off. Kattar shots. He lands a right hand. Emmett lands a combination. A nice counter uppercut lands by Kattar. He then comes over the top with a right hand. Emmett bends down for a takedown. Kattar stuffs him. Emmett lands a leg kick. A check hook lands for Kattar, which goes out of Emmett’s reach. Both fighters land. Emmett advances and Kattar blocks his head kick. Kattar doubles his jab. Its volume drops again. Kattar lands a nice right hand. Emmett lands a left hand. Kattar talks to Emmett. He seems to want to trade, but backs off. A good right hand lands for Kattar. Emmett misses badly as Kattar avoids him. Both guys try to turn back fists. They both miss, causing both fighters to crack as the final horn sounds. MMA Junkie scores it 48-47 Emmett.
