Obi-Wan Kenobi Finale Recap: Was There a “Final” Showdown? Plus, a familiar face appears – take note!

After the heroes escape Vader’s attack on Jabiim, Obi Wan KenobiThe finale of found the Rebels running out of time, with the Empire hot on their trail and the Shields in decline.

Realizing this, Obi-Wan decides to give everyone time for repairs by confronting Vader again, even though it might result in his own death. Bidding farewell to Leia, Kenobi gives young Princess Tala’s (empty, sorry!) case and promises her that he will return.

On Tatooine, Owen and Beru receive a warning from a friend who had been grilled by Reva that she was heading their way. Owen warns Luke to stay put and hide, as the Tuskens are attacking farms in the area again. But if something goes wrong, he must flee.

Obi-Wan attempts to commune with Qui-Gon once more, saying he must confront Anakin. Whether he dies or his former apprentice does, it ends today. Roken is there to see him off, reminding the Clone Wars General that he doesn’t have to. But it’s between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, so there’s no turning back.

The Grand Inquisitor notes that an escape ship is leaving the transport with one person on board, but urges Vader to continue pursuing the rebels as this is their chance to wipe them out completely. Vader, however, is laser focused on Kenobi and orders his ship to be ready. As Obi-Wan prepares for what he believes will be their final confrontation – they will of course meet once more, in A new hope — he finds Lola in his pocket. Leia had to hide the droid there while hugging him. Clever girl.

Following Obi-Wan’s ship to a barren moon, Vader once again comes face to face with his former master. Obi-Wan pulls out his blue lightsaber and utters the same thing he said to Anakin just before their battle on Mustafar at the end of Revenge of the Sith“I’ll do what I have to.”

“So you’re going die“, Vader replies. They clash again.

At the same time, Reva arrives at Owen’s farm in pursuit of Luke. Fire blasters Owen and Beru primed and positioned, which she deflects, her usually neat tresses now loose and slightly disheveled after being unceremoniously dismissed by Vader. Luke runs off and the former inquisitor chases the boy to the dunes.

Back on the moon, Vader notes that Obi-Wan’s strength has returned but “the weakness remains”. The Sith Lord then uses the Force to bury Obi-Wan under rocks he threw, saying, “Did you really think you could defeat me?” You have lackMaster.”

But Vader didn’t kill his former master with the collapse. Instead, Obi-Wan uses the Force to keep the rocks from crushing him. Fueled by memories of Luke and Leia, he pushes them up and down, then catches up to Vader. Their lightsaber fight continues.

Obi-Wan fights with everything he has and ends up opening Vader’s helmet with his lightsaber. The move weakens Vader, who gasps with half his face exposed. That’s when Kenobi sees his padawan’s face for the first time in years. “anakin,” he calls.

Through his damaged vocoder—Hayden Christensen’s voice is heard, distorted—Vador tells his former master that “Anakin is gone. I am what remains. Obi Wan tells him he’s sorry for what happened in the past, but Vader rejects him.

“I am not your failure. You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker… I done,” he notes, before vowing to destroy Obi-Wan in kind. Realizing that his friend really is dead, Kenobi says to the broken man in front of him, “Goodbye, Dark”, and walks away. In an enraged voice, a weakened Vader calls out “Obi-Wan!” and collapses to his knees, steadying himself against the rocks.

Obi-Wan senses Luke in danger and rushes after the boy in his dropship. On Tatooine, Luke has fallen, having been forced off a rocky ledge by Reva, and sits unconscious. When Reva approaches him to go kill, she sees herself at her age, and memories of Anakin slaughtering young people in the Jedi Temple come rushing back. With her lightsaber raised, she now finds herself in Anakin’s position.

Obi-Wan lands at Owen’s farm and sees Owen and Beru calling for Luke, and prepares to search for him in the dunes. But Reva appears in the distance, returning with the unconscious boy in her arms. She reports to Obi-Wan that she couldn’t get rid of Vader’s offspring and so she left her dead friends behind. Obi-Wan doesn’t see it that way, insisting that she honored them and gave them peace. When Reva asks if she became Darth Vader, Obi-Wan says no, she chose not to. And who she is now is entirely up to her. Reva places her Inquisitor lightsaber in the sand and Obi-Wan declares them both free.

On Mustafar, Vader speaks to Darth Sidious through a hologram. Sidious notes that Lord Vader seems agitated and wonders if thoughts of his former master have left him weakened. Vader insists that Kenobi now means nothing, and he only serves his new master. Cue “Imperial March” as Vader sits on his lonely throne.

Back in Alderaan, Leia dresses in a single modification: Tala’s holster. Queen Breha and Bail Organa are loving the new look, and Leia is ready to be a leader – with a few changes, of course. All three are greeted by an arriving Obi-Wan, who offers the Organas help if they need it again.

He also makes it clear to Leia that he doesn’t know her parents. “Princess Leia Organa, you are wise, insightful and generous. These are qualities that came from your mother,” he told her. “But you are also passionate and fearless… direct. They are gifts from your father. were exceptional people who gave birth to an exceptional daughter.

Kenobi wishes he could divulge more, but Leia says he doesn’t have to. When asked if she will ever see him again, Kenobi says maybe, if she ever needs the help of a “tired old man”. However, no one must know about it, otherwise it could put them both in danger. Leia waves goodbye to him in her arms and Obi-Wan says those familiar parting words: “May the Force be with you.”

Liam Neeson in Obi-Wan Kenobi

After returning to Tatooine, Obi-Wan wears his old Jedi robes while packing up the cave he’s lived in for a decade. Leading an eopia to the Lars’ farm, the former Jedi master is invited by Owen to finally meet Luke. “Hello, there…”, he said to the boy.

Shortly after, Obi-Wan crosses the desert and sees his master Qui-Gon Jinn as a Force ghost. (Hey, Liam Neeson!) He was beginning to think his old master would never come.

“I was still there, Obi-Wan,” Qui-Gon told him. “You just weren’t ready to see.” But now that Kenobi is ready, they have a long way to go….
