Drake, Kevin Gates, Logic and more – New hip-hop projects this week

Week after week, hip-hop never disappoints when it comes to releasing new music. This week, the biggest rapper on the planet returns with a surprise new album, a spitter from Baton Rouge, Louisiana has a blast with a new album, and a retired MC drops a project just in time for his massive concert tour. summer and more.

Out of nowhere, Drake just showed up for the summer. Thursday, June 16, the big boss of OVO announced his new solo album, Honestly it doesn’t matter. Champagne Papi’s latest LP comes after speculation erupted last week that he would be releasing a new mixtape. There was credibility in the chatter, with the release of Drizzy’s No. 7 album, less than a year after the release of his 10th Billboard 200 chart-topping project, Certified lover.

Dropping out without a lead single, the new offering is produced by longtime collaborator Noah “40” Shebib and features a guest appearance from 21 Savage.

The new album comes months after it was announced that Drake had signed a new recording contract worth over $400 million. The new album will likely be followed by a massive summer tour for the “Way 2 Sexy” rapper.

Kevin Gates finally unveils his third album, Khaza, after a major deployment that has been going on for months. The Louisiana native promoted the album in every way, including dropping a line of new products and spitting a freestyle called “Super General” over Kodak Black’s “Super Gremlin,” which raised eyebrows all over due to its sexually explicit content which name-drops Beyonce, Rubi Rose and others.

With Gates tackling a number of very personal topics throughout the 19-track LP, the former XXL Freshman shows how far his bars have evolved while staying true to the sound he became known for.

Led by three previously released songs, “Big Lyfe”, “Bad for Me” and “Intro”, KhazaThe only guest feature is by Juicy J, who appears on the track “Thinking With My Dick.” This particular song was originally dropped in 2013, but was included on the album due to its recent success on TikTok.

In support of KhazaGates is preparing to leave for an extensive tour which will run from August to October.

Logic arrives with their new album, Vinyl Days, just as he’s about to embark on a 28-date co-headlining tour with Wiz Khalifa, which kicks off in July. The 30-track album is packed with appearances from hard-hitting artists like Action Bronson, Royce 5’9”, The Game, RZA and more.

Before the release of Vinyl Days, Logic actually released a total of six songs which all feature on the album, including “Decades”, “Tetris”, “Therapy Music” featuring Russ, “Orville” featuring Blu and Exile, “Bleed It”, “Breath Control” featuring Wiz Khalifa and the album’s title track, “Vinyl Days” featuring DJ Premier. The aforementioned title track actually sparked controversy earlier this week. It was speculated that Logic snapped some photos of Top Dawg Entertainment rapper Reason on the track. The rhyme “1-800-273-8255” dispelled the rumor by taking to Twitter to address the situation and also suggesting the two MCs hook up at some point over a sweet summer snack.

“Hey, my brother, @reasonTDEmy boy @thisisrory said you thought I dissed you on my song, ‘Vinyl Days,'” Logic wrote. “If I had to diss you, I would diss you. I love you, you are my brother. Let’s have some ice cream together for a little while.”

On the same day, he was announced as a member of the 2022 XXL Freshman class, SoFaygo filed its new B4PINK EP to satiate all his fans who have been waiting for new music for a minute. Although the five-track project contains no guest appearances, production credits include Bakkwoods, Bryce, Y2 and ColdXsummer.

While promoting the new project on social media, SoFaygo was sure to let its Instagram followers know that, true to its name, B4PINK serves as a small teaser for his highly anticipated album pink heartthat the new anointed XXL Freshman promises to come out soon.

“Dropping this EP to give you music while waiting for the album,” Faygo wrote. “I love you all and I promise you the album is coming very soon.”
