WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Carmella wins Raw women’s title opportunity at Money in the Bank

With the Money in the Bank event just weeks away, WWE did a lot of heavy lifting on Raw Monday night. At headline time, it was announced that Rhea Ripley was not medically cleared for her scheduled title challenge against Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, leaving a lot of room to fill.

Carmella would be the woman to take the newly presented opportunity, earning a fatal quintuplet to start the show and cement her spot in the title match on July 2 in Las Vegas.

Another title match was added to Money in the Bank, with Bobby Lashley defeating Chad Gable, Otis and Theory in one night to earn Theory a US title shot at the upcoming event.

CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Bianca Belair receives a new challenger for the Money in the Bank title

Bianca Belair opened the show by announcing that Rhea Ripley was not medically cleared for her match at Money in the Bank for Belair’s Raw Women’s Championship. Belair then announced that Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Carmella, Asuka and Becky Lynch would compete later that night for a title shot at Money in the Bank. This led to the expected parade of interruptions from the women involved in the match.

Carmella won. Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Asuka and Becky Lynch via Pinfall after hitting Morgan with a superkick. The win puts Carmella in the Raw Women’s Title match at Money in the Bank. It should be noted that Carmella was the first winner of a women’s Money in the Bank match, making the event something of her “trade show.”

Carmella made sense as a choice to face Belair here. Her presence isn’t needed in the ladder match at Money in the Bank and she’s just legit enough given her history to make a good late replacement challenger. A title challenge from Carmella isn’t likely to excite anyone or bring the same sense of a possible title change that Ripley provided, but sometimes you just need a patch to go through. above a hole left by a wound. This is Carmella. Category B-
