This is the first installment of a trilogy of videos that will be released in conjunction with the release of the new album. “The sick, the dying… and the dead! »

“The sick, the dying… and the dead! » consolidates a furious return to form started with the grammys-winner “Dystopia”while pushing forward musically and scoring Mustainerecent triumph over throat cancer. Visionary uniting MEGADETH leader and sound architect Dave Mustaine with co-producer Chris Rakestraw (DANZIG, PARKWAY WALK), who led together 2016 “Dystopia”the album was recorded at Mustainethe home studio in Nashville, Tennessee, with the guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Dirk Verbeuren. Bass player Steve DiGiorgio temporarily stepped in to record the album. With the kick off MEGADETHthe recent tour of, MEGADETH old students James Lo Menzo joined the MEGADETH family as permanent bassist.

“For the first time in a long time, everything we needed on this record is where it belongs,” Dave Mustaine enthusiasm. “I can’t wait for the public to seize it!”

Featuring some of Mustainethe strongest songwriting of all while also incorporating the rest of the band’s songwriting, “The sick, the dying… and the dead! » brings together all that is exhilarating and distinctive about MEGADETH. From the flashback fury of “Night Stalkers” (with the icon Ice-T) and first single “We will return”more mid-tempo and melodic “Soldier!” and the very personal title track, with its thrilling twists. “The sick, the dying… and the dead! » also contains a cover of KENNEDY DEAD“Police Truck” and Samy Hagarit is “This planet is on fire”the latter including voices from Agar himself.

“The sick, the dying… and the dead! » merges the ultra-frenzied riffs, fiercely complex solos and adventurous spirit for which the quartet is known, all enhanced with a characteristic virtuosity and precision and Mustainesingular sardonic growl. This album brings together all the crushing musical motifs that have made MEGADETH both recurring metal disruptors and revered standard-bearers of the genre.

Mustaine Talk about “Night Stalkers” in an interview earlier this year with Jose Mangin of SiriusXM Liquid Metal. He said: “It’s a brutal song. I can’t remember if it was the fastest [on the new album] or not. But “Night Stalkers” is about the US Army’s 160th Battalion, and it’s all black-ops helicopters coming in at night – no one knows they’re there; they are inside, they are outside. And I got my homie Ice-T join me on a part in the middle, because Ice was an army ranger, and he did two tours in Afghanistan, I think that was the case. I think it was in 91, when I first met him. It may have been a little earlier than that, but I know he was a ranger. And I had just done something on his last record. But when I asked him, I thought it would be great to have him because of his bravado and the fact that he has real credibility as the person who was there. And then we have several other guys to participate in the track just to make it as real as possible. We go up to the base to film a bunch of helicopter footage and sounds and stuff like that. We have three videos we’re doing for this record right now in Brazil, and we’re combining all that production and grassroots stuff, with the helicopters and everything together, to make this first three-song video to deliver.”

Re Agarthe contribution of “This planet is on fire”, Mustaine Told SiriusXMit is “Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk”: “It’s a super-heavy song. And the good thing about it [is] we didn’t just do the song; [Sammy] played on it too. So we have a bit of guitar; we have a lot of singing. I think it’s super badass.”

As for MEGADETHthe decision to cover “Police Truck”, Mustaine said, “It’s no secret I’m a big KENNEDY DEAD fan, and I had wanted to do “Holidays in Cambodia”but my friends from LÄÄZ ROCKIT had done it, and I felt that [I would] just let them get their glory out of this rendition of this song, and if the time comes, I’m sure there’s another song that will hold me back. And there was — that was the song “Police Truck”. So we recorded that one.”
